South Cowal Community Enterprises has accessed funding from Cycling Scotland to make changes to the yard space to help make the Lido shop a Cycling Friendly community space.
The changes include:
- Improved ramp access for bikes to the upper level
- Improved ground surfaces
- Lighting
- A bike wash out and bike storage area
- Improved bin storage and screening
- Improved signage for cyclists and visitors
You can see the plans below to get a better sense of what to will be happening over the next few months.

In addition, we are working with Dunoon Cycling and Walking Bothy to schedule events and training to support cycling at a local level. We hope that these developments will help more people get on their bikes to explore the area and pop into the shop!
The first event will be taking place Saturday 19th June, 10am with the support of local cycle leader Sara Cairns. Sara will be leading a Let’s Ride women’s cycle from West Bay to Innellan. To sign up for this event go here>
We are also working on a project to create a Green Map of South Cowal focused on cycling and walking. The map will be used to improve the visitor experience of South Cowal and help inform future developments around the active travel agenda. We are looking for volunteers to help gather images and information for the map. You don’t need any special skills, just a mobile phone, camera and some time to take part in Green Map sessions.
